UNCOMPROMISED QUALITY

Whether you're looking for an ultra heavy duty survival piece on which a life could depend one day or a comfortable, easy to use paring knife, our "no excuses" quality standards demand nothing but the best.

Like everything else, our designs reflect our commitment to quality. We don't develop new knives just to be part of the crowd embroiled in chasing a fleeting fashion or a current fad. Instead we follow tried and true traditional designs proven for reliability and superior performance.

Each step in the "production" process is performed by a highly skilled craftsman using the best raw materials available. There simply are no shortcuts permitted and absolutely no compromises on quality.

Want a knife to use, a knife built to deliver top performance year after year? You owe it to yourself to try one of ours.

BLADES

Every AbbaTeq knife is designed with a full tang and is ground from US made 154CM stainless "super" steel. When it comes to knife steel, it just doesn't get any better than 154CM; real top of the line American steel at its very best!

Expertly ground knife skeletons are only the beginning though. After grinding, drilling, and marking with the AbbaTeq tang stamp, the skeletons must be heat treated to produce optimum hardness. This is done by specialists skilled in the art of heat treating high performance knife steel.

The hardened knife skeletons are then ready for finish sharpening to produce our unbelievably keen AbbaSharp edge found on every AbbaTeq knife.

diamond in the rough
An AbbaTeq Huntsman (model 110) at a very early stage. While easily recognizable as a Huntsman, this blade's still a long way from finished. When completed it'll have 3 bolt holes and AbbaTeq's tang mark; and be heat treated, polished, and have an AbbaSharp edge.

natural handle materials
A partially finished AbbaTeq Stalker (model 111) blade photographed with some of the stabilized wood we use for AbbaTeq Custom Shop handles. Those pictured are cardinal wood, ebony, and yellow heart (which is actually brighter than shown above). Beautiful woods make great knife handles and the stabilization process makes their performance and durability even better.

HANDLES

So AbbaTeq users have a wide variety of choices, we provide two approaches to handles: (1) Our "standard" option of black linen phenolic and (2) selections crafted to order in our AbbaTeq Custom Shop.

Linen Phenolic

Being extremely durable, linen phenolic is exceptionally well suited for knife handle uses. It is made with alternating layers of tough linen and phenolic.

Generically known as laminated phenolic, a number of trademarked names have been used for phenolic laminates; Micarta being the most widely known. In addition to linen, phenolic laminates are made with other materials including paper, canvas, etc.

The linen phenolic we use meets military specifications (Mil-I-24768/14 Type FBG) and results in high performance handles that are good looking and virtually unaffected by temperature and moisture variations.

Custom Shop

Our Custom Shop handles are made of fine hardwoods known for their durability and lasting beauty. These come from domestic and tropical forests and are not endangered species. Distinctive looks come from woods with appealing grains and colors.

Even though they have excellent qualities for use as knife handles, we go further by putting each piece through a stabilization process during which acrylic resins and monomers are applied under pressure.

Naturally inherent properties are enhanced by stabilization in four ways: (1) Reduced tendency to shrink or warp due to humidity and temperature variations, (2) increased resistance to water, (3) greater hardness than unstabilized wood, and (4) improved receptivity to polishing.

SHEATHS

Just like AbbaTeq blades and handles, our sheaths are made right here in the USA out of first quality leather. The cow hides come from US cattle and the tanning is done here in the USA as well; even the thread used to stitch our sheaths is made here.

Each piece of leather for our sheaths is individually cut from tough heavy durable vegetable tanned hides. It is then carefully assembled, trimmed, and expertly stitched or laced by a master leathercrafter.

The end result is a very functional, high quality sheath of lasting beauty that will provide years of trouble free service under even the roughest conditions.

craftsmanship at its best

CRAFTSMANSHIP

There is no AbbaTeq factory where we manufacture cutlery using mass production, assembly line methods. Rather, our system consists of numerous very highly skilled specialists working in their own locations and serving as "stops" along the way to a completed product.

Whether it's blade grinding, heat treating, blade finishing, wood stabilizing, handle assembling, or leathercrafting, every step is done in the US. The shops of the master craftsmen who "manufacture" AbbaTeq knives are located in a variety of states.

Pick up an AbbaTeq knife once and you'll understand the difference made by quality design, materials, and craftsmanship.

YES, THE DIFFERENCE IS QUALITY

If you're looking for a real cutlery bargain, you've found the right place! Every item in our product line is a true bargain given our exceptionally high quality standards for design, materials, and craftsmanship.

We use only 154CM stainless super steel, our handles are linen phenolic or carefully stabilized wood, our sheaths are real leather, and all the work's done here in the USA.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for a cheap junk knife, you probably won't have much of an interest in our product line. Here's why: You won't find any cute little stickers or labels saying "Made In China" or anywhere else outside the USA on anything from us.

Something else you won't find either is extensive use of "artificial" materials. Nor will you find us using any cheap imported sheaths, leather, blades, steel, etc. God bless America.
